What is a CDN?
A CDN stores your static assets such as images, CSS and JavaScript in a CDN or Content Distribution Network.
A CDN is a collection of servers located all around the world. When a web visitor accesses your website, the CDN will load cached versions of the static content from the server closest to them. These are servers optimised for speed and are positioned to effectively serve a global audience.
Why do you need it?
A CDN provides a faster web browsing experience by loading your website from a server geographically closest to your website visitor. A CDN is ideal for websites that target a global audience and/or experience high levels or spikes in their website traffic. The server load is shared across many locations, making for a more consistent and stable website.
